  1. I take it you’ve never been to southern California.

That being said, I don’t much care what others think. I don’t go to the beach. Sand. Crowds. Ugh. But your points are good ones.

It’s all about body confidence. I’m a bit of a gym bunny and post baby am working hard to get back in shape for summer but I appreciate that’s not for everyone.
I don’t feel the need to conform to look a certain way it’s about being confident and I love the buzz of working out and those endorphins which boost my mood!

  3. Great post Debbie! I live in Greece and the gyms are filling up! But there are just as many people who don’t care and some of them with healthy full bodies who wear bikinis because they want to get a tan. Your observations are on point. I think it is just a marketing ploy to make us all feel as if we have to look a certain way. What ever happened to diversity? I am hosting a new link party called Sweet Inspiration and would love to have you join us. It runs Friday till Tuesday.

    • Thank you 🙂 That’s great that people are confident and wear whatever they want! Exactly, we should be able to just be ourselves! I’ll try and get over on Friday, will you tweet me because I’m sure to forget!

Well said. I am very guilty of getting hung up on being ready to brave the beach but I doubt anyone else notices or cares xx

  5. I just throw on some sunless tanner in the days leading up to it. Tan = toned! Of course, that doesn’t help the extra thickness… But I tend to not spend too much time in a bathing suit and I’ve found unless you’re attractive, most people don’t even look at you at the beach. (Or anywhere else!)

Congratulations on being shortlisted, Debbie! I love this post. Every now and again we need to have someone give us that message that we are beautiful whatever our shape, size or skin tone.

    THanks for sharing. #TwinklyTUesday

  7. Great message. I do love the beach. I don’t necessarily want to look like a magazine model because they don’t even look like that either but I want to be comfortable in my skin. I do agree we shouldn’t avoid the beach just because we don’t live up what seems like the ideal now. I admire the people who seem comfortable with themselves on the beach.

    • Thank you 🙂 I think we should aim to be the best versions of ourselves, not try to be like someone else. I do too, there’s some people that really look like they couldn’t care less what anyone thinks, that’s so liberating.

  8. I agree. Having a beach body literally involves two things. 1.) having a body and 2.) being on a beach. Anything more than that is too much hassle! #effitfriday

Exactly this Debbie. I wobble a lot more but it doesn’t stop me throwing on a bikini and getting in the water with the boys. I try to exercise for my health, for the way I look, most importantly For me’!
