Confessions of a Tinderella by Rosy Edwards: Book Review

This was one of those books that caught my eye and I thought it could be a bit of a laugh. As someone who’s never even considered any form of internet dating, I thought it might be quite eye opening.

Here are my thoughts:

Rosy Edwards is a typical twenty-something-year-old. And although she’s happy being single, a part of her kind of wants a boyfriend. So she puts herself on dating app Tinder and soon learns the unspoken rules the hard way:

Always reject the guy if he:

A) Has black-and-white profile pics (he’s ugly)

B) Is wearing a hat (bald)

C) Is using a shot of his torso (moron)

And then there are the dates themselves. From a sky-high dinner date to a borderline drug bust in Chelsea, Rosy experiences it all, swinging through her love life on a trapeze of Tinder. She falls for the wrong guys, ditches the nice ones, but will she find her happy ending?

My Thoughts on The Book

Confessions of a Tinderella follows Rosy’s disastrous dating life and more. She is a funny, likeable character who I think most women will be able to relate to on some level.

Rosy reminds me of myself as a teenager – she makes bad decision after bad decision when it comes to who to date, but you can’t help rooting for her (even if you want to shake her at times).

The book is well written and it does feel as though you are just sitting having a coffee with Rosy which I loved.

All I’ve really heard about Tinder are horror stories – unsolicited dick pics, insulting or overly sexual messages (sometimes both) and guys with fake profile pictures. It’s not known as the hook-up app for nothing surely?

Yet Rosy paints a different picture of it. Either those horror stories are greatly exaggerated or Rosy cut a lot of the ugly side of Tinder to keep the book more light hearted. Either way, it was interesting to hear her thoughts and experiences on the app.

Conclusion and Rating

Confessions of a Tinderella is great choice if you’re looking for an easy read that will make you laugh, cringe and ultimately enjoy a peek into someone else’s life. 4.5/5
