April is here again and it’s time for this year’s A to Z Challenge. This year, my theme is motivational quotes. Each 
Monday to Saturday throughout April I will be posting a motivational quote each day starting with the letters A through to Z.
It’s traditional through the challenge to keep posts short and sweet, so that’s what I’ll be doing. Just a quick explanation of why I chose each quote and what it means to me.
Day 5 – E
“Everyone is gifted but some people never open their package”
This quote is actually quite sad when you really stop to think about it isn’t it? To think that some people go through life not ever embracing that one thing that makes them special.
We are all unique and we all have something that makes us stand out from the crowd, our own personal USP if you will. Imagine living your full life never knowing what that one thing is – that thing that is your specialist area. The thing that will make you shine. The thing that when you are doing it feels like coming home.
If you haven’t found your gift yet, keep searching. Don’t be the person who leaves their package unopened. Find that special something that feels like you’ve been waiting for it all your life and go out and shout it to the world.

My special gift? I don’t know exactly and I don’t feel special most days. I survived abuse and still love life? My reading skills? The fact that I find friends in the most unusual places? I guess I’m still looking…or maybe I’ve found it and just don’t know.
Everyone is special in their own way. Perhaps you have found it – those things you mention all sound like good skills to help other abuse survivors reclaim their lives!
I don’t think I have one special gift either – maybe it’s more like lots of little presents – a bit of an Easter egg hunt where I find new undiscovered ones every so often?

I’m really good at remembering song lyrics and movie quotes. And making people laugh. My mum would say I’m gifted with writing, but she’s much more confident of that than I am.
Making people laugh is a gift to be celebrated in itself. I’m sure your mum’s right – generally other people can spot our skills a long time before we can.
Well said. There lies within us something that is uniquely us. We all possess a unique set of skills tailored for greatness in a specific area. Discovering this area of greatness however, is a great challenge and something that we must strive for!
Its definitely a challenge, but hopefully its a fun journey!
Good quote! I know what I’m good at but not sure those things qualify as ‘gifts’.

So So true!! We live in such a “copy cat” society instead of just embracing uniqueness and being proud of it! To find that special something about ourselves is truly a treasure.

I guess sometimes we think we have, and then something changes and we realise actually, it was something else that we hadn’t even discovered yet
I used to always think my gift was writing, which was both a blessing and a curse. Whenever finding success seemed impossible, I’d gripe, “All I can do is write. If this doesn’t work out, there’s nothing left for me.”
Not true. I think my gift is being able to form strong connections with people quickly, and keep them going. I never thought this was special or unusual, but enough people have told me I have an extraordinary ability in this regard that I began to notice and appreciate it. Sometimes we can’t detect these things about ourselves. 🙂
Connecting with people is indeed a great gift – it opens many doors and really lets you make a difference in the world.
I totally agree that it sometimes takes someone else to point out what we are good at.
I believe everyone is gifted. My question is not why they don’t open it, but what prevents them for understanding that, and nurturing it?
I think a lot of the time it comes down to fear – fear of being seen to be different, fear of failure, fear of change – if we can conquer fear, we’ve made it!
