No matter what is happening in our lives, and how bad we have it at a particular moment, there is always something to be thankful for.
In our darkest moments, when things go wrong, you are down and can’t see the positive easily, when life just doesn’t seem fair, that is the time it is most important to think about what you do have to be thankful for.
We are often guilty of overlooking the positive and focussing on the negative. This is the path to discontentment and unhappiness.
Every day, look for something you can be thankful for, no matter how small. Even something as seemingly inconsequential as your bus coming on time, it starts raining and you remembered your umbrella or you had your favourite biscuit with your morning cup of tea.
All these things can add up and make us see that things aren’t always as bad as they seem and that sometimes what we have is exactly what we need, and what we have is all we need.
Here are 3 things I am thankful for right now:
Good friends and family
What more could we really ask for than good, supportive friends and family. The ones that you can call at 3am if you need them, the ones who can make you smile even when you’ve had a bad day and the ones that know you better than you know yourself sometimes. I am thankful that I have people like this in my life.
I am hardly rich, and don’t have a lady of leisure lifestyle, and while I sometimes wish I had, ultimately I’m lucky. I was born into a part of the world that has a good quality of life. When I see what’s happening in some countries, I am thankful that I live where I do.
Of course I hate my job some days, and I bitch and moan about it, but in the big scheme of things, I am thankful to have a job when so many people are out of work.
What are you thankful for right now?
